The Vijay Hazare Trophy has witnessed several Indian cricketers delivering impressive performances. Star players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli looked in great form in the early matches. At the same time, players such as Rishabh Pant, Sarfaraz Khan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad are still actively participating and making headlines in the tournament.
Among them is Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who is representing Goa in the competition. However, Arjun’s performance so far has been disappointing, especially in the match against Mumbai.
Arjun Tendulkar Concedes Heavy Runs
Arjun Tendulkar failed to take a wicket for the third consecutive match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Playing against Mumbai, he bowled 8 overs and conceded 78 runs without claiming a single wicket. Mumbai batters attacked him aggressively throughout his spell.
He also got a chance to open the innings for Goa but could not make a big impact with the bat.
Limited Impact With the Bat as Well
Earlier, while opening against Mumbai, Arjun scored 24 runs off 27 balls, but the innings was not enough to put pressure on the opposition. Mumbai posted a massive total of 445 runs, which proved too big for Goa to chase. Goa eventually lost the match by 87 runs.
For Mumbai, Sarfaraz Khan played a brilliant knock of 157 runs off 75 balls, while Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 46 runs from 64 balls.
Tough Tournament for Arjun Tendulkar
Arjun Tendulkar has been struggling throughout the Vijay Hazare Trophy. So far, he has not taken a single wicket in the tournament.
- Against Himachal Pradesh, he gave away 58 runs in 6 overs, though Goa won the match by 8 runs while defending 286.
- Against Sikkim, he bowled economically, conceding 49 runs in 9 overs and bowling 2 maiden overs, but still went wicketless. Goa won that match by 62 runs.
Despite Arjun’s individual struggles, Goa have won 3 out of their 4 matches and are currently placed third on the points table.
While Arjun Tendulkar is going through a difficult phase in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he still has opportunities ahead to bounce back. With time, experience, and consistent performances, the young all-rounder will be aiming to improve and contribute more effectively to his team.
