Honda has made a major move in India’s premium SUV market with the all-new Honda ZR-V e:HEV. The Japanese carmaker has introduced its globally acclaimed hybrid SUV as its new flagship model in India, bringing a combination of strong-hybrid technology, sporty styling, premium comfort and advanced safety features.

The ZR-V is positioned as a premium SUV for buyers who want something more sophisticated and distinctive than a conventional petrol-powered model. Its biggest attraction is the 2.0-litre e:HEV Sports Hybrid powertrain, which delivers a claimed 184 PS of combined power and 315 Nm of combined torque while offering a certified fuel efficiency of 22.8 km/l. Honda also claims a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 7.9 seconds.

The SUV was launched in India on July 25, 2026, with deliveries beginning at the same time. Honda is selling the ZR-V in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) imported from Japan.

2.0-Litre Hybrid Engine Is the Biggest Highlight

The Honda ZR-V gets a 2.0-litre direct-injection Atkinson-cycle petrol engine combined with Honda’s advanced dual-motor hybrid system. The setup works with an e-CVT transmission and is designed to balance performance and fuel efficiency.

According to Honda, the hybrid system produces 184 PS of combined maximum power at 5,000-6,000 rpm and 315 Nm of maximum torque at 0-2,000 rpm. The company claims a fuel efficiency figure of 22.8 km/l, making the ZR-V considerably more efficiency-focused than many conventional petrol SUVs in this price bracket.

Honda says the system can automatically switch between Electric, Hybrid and Engine Drive modes, depending on driving conditions. The driver can also select Normal, Sport and Eco driving modes, while regenerative braking helps recover energy during deceleration.

0-100 km/h in Just 7.9 Seconds

Despite its focus on efficiency, Honda has not ignored performance. The company claims the ZR-V can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. That figure gives the SUV a sporty character that goes beyond simply being an economical hybrid.

Honda has also focused heavily on driving dynamics. The ZR-V uses MacPherson front suspension, multi-link rear suspension and electric power steering, with Honda describing the driving experience as combining sedan-like handling with SUV practicality.

Sporty Exterior Design

The Honda ZR-V has been designed to look more sophisticated and sporty than a traditional SUV. Honda’s official specification page highlights its signature LED lighting system, including full LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, sequential LED front turn indicators and full LED tail lamps.

The SUV also gets 18-inch alloy wheels, giving it a stronger road presence. Honda says the overall design combines sporty proportions with a premium SUV stance.

For Indian buyers looking for a premium SUV that does not follow the conventional bulky design formula, the ZR-V’s styling could be one of its biggest selling points.

Premium Interior With Bose Audio

Step inside the ZR-V and the premium positioning becomes even clearer. Honda offers an all-black interior with leather upholstery, along with a driver-focused cabin designed around comfort and convenience. The SUV gets dual-zone climate control and premium-quality materials.

The dashboard features a 22.8 cm, or 9-inch, floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A larger 25.9 cm, or 10.2-inch, fully digital driver’s display is also offered.

One of the standout features is the 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, which gives the ZR-V a more upmarket cabin experience. Wireless smartphone charging is also available.

Practicality Has Not Been Ignored

Although the ZR-V is positioned as a premium SUV, Honda has paid attention to everyday practicality. The rear seats feature a 60:40 split-folding arrangement, and Honda claims up to 1,313 litres of cargo capacity with the second row folded flat.

The luggage area also features flexible storage solutions, including under-floor storage, a load partition and a retractable parcel cover. Honda says the low and wide boot opening and flat cargo floor are designed to make loading larger items easier.

The cabin also gets several storage areas, including door pockets, cup holders, a tray beneath the centre console and a centre-console box capable of accommodating a tablet.

Luxury Features Add to the Appeal

Honda has loaded the ZR-V with several convenience features expected in a premium SUV. The driver’s seat gets 8-way power adjustment with one-touch memory linked to the smart key fob, while the front passenger seat receives 4-way power adjustment.

The SUV also gets metal deceleration selector paddle shifters for battery regeneration, a hands-free power tailgate with kick operation, walk-away close-and-lock functionality, electronic parking brake and auto brake hold.

These features make the ZR-V more convenient for daily driving while also reinforcing its premium positioning.

Honda SENSING and 8 Airbags

Safety is one of the strongest parts of the Honda ZR-V package. The SUV comes equipped with Honda SENSING, Honda’s advanced driver-assistance technology suite.

The system includes Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Low-Speed Follow, Lane Keeping Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, Lead Car Departure Notification and Auto High Beam.

Additional safety equipment includes eight airbags, a 360-degree surround-view camera, Driver Attention Monitor, front and rear parking sensors, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist and Vehicle Stability Assist.

Honda also uses its ACE body structure, while ISOFIX compatibility is available for the rear seats.

Honda ZR-V Price in India

When Honda officially announced the start of deliveries in July 2026, it introduced the ZR-V e:HEV at an introductory price of ₹47.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.

However, Honda’s current website now displays the All New ZR-V at ₹49.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. Buyers should therefore check the latest quotation from Honda before booking, as prices, offers and associated charges can change.

Warranty and Hybrid Battery Coverage

Honda is also offering a comprehensive warranty package with the ZR-V. The SUV gets a 3-year unlimited-kilometre standard warranty and three years of complimentary roadside assistance.

Honda offers extended warranty options of up to seven years, while its Anytime Warranty programme can extend coverage up to 10 years or 1,20,000 km. The lithium-ion hybrid battery is covered for 8 years or 1,60,000 km, whichever comes first, while hybrid system components are covered for 5 years or 1,00,000 km.

Honda ZR-V Colour Options

Honda is offering the ZR-V in four premium exterior colours: Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Crystal Black Pearl.

The Honda ZR-V e:HEV is clearly aimed at buyers who want something different from the regular premium SUV formula. Its 184 PS hybrid powertrain, 315 Nm torque, claimed 22.8 km/l efficiency and 7.9-second 0-100 km/h time give it a compelling mix of performance and economy.

Add to that the 9-inch touchscreen, 10.2-inch digital display, 12-speaker Bose audio system, 360-degree camera, eight airbags and Honda SENSING ADAS, and the ZR-V becomes one of Honda’s most feature-rich SUVs available in India.

The biggest catch is its premium pricing and CBU route, which puts it firmly into a higher-end segment. Nevertheless, for buyers who value hybrid technology, sophisticated design, strong safety equipment and an upmarket driving experience, the Honda ZR-V could be a seriously interesting choice.
