Drishyam 3 Movie Review and Rating: Ajay Devgn is as solid as ever as the unflappable Vijay Salgaonkar, while Tabu brings back the intensity and emotional depth that made her character one of the franchise’s strongest elements. Jaideep Ahlawat adds a fresh energy to the thriller with his confident performance, ensuring that the film never feels like a mere repetition of what came before.

Drishyam 3 arrives with enormous expectations. The first two films established Vijay Salgaonkar as one of Hindi cinema’s most memorable ordinary men caught in extraordinary circumstances. The challenge for the third instalment is therefore obvious: how do you create another compelling chapter without weakening the carefully constructed world of the franchise?

The answer lies in the screenplay, performances and the film’s ability to keep the audience questioning what is real and what is carefully constructed.

Ajay Devgn once again slips effortlessly into the role of Vijay Salgaonkar. His greatest strength here is restraint. Vijay does not need dramatic speeches or exaggerated expressions to command a scene. A pause, a glance or a carefully measured response is often enough. Devgn understands that Vijay’s power comes from his ability to remain calm when everyone around him is losing control.

Tabu is equally impressive. Her character carries the emotional weight of the franchise, and the actress brings back the combination of authority, vulnerability and determination that has become synonymous with her performance. Her confrontation with Vijay remains one of the film’s most engaging elements.

Jaideep Ahlawat proves to be a valuable addition to the franchise. His character brings a different flavour to the investigation, and Ahlawat plays him with an easy confidence. There is humour in his body language, but there is also an underlying sharpness that keeps the audience guessing. His presence gives the film a new dynamic without overshadowing Devgn and Tabu.

One of the biggest strengths of Drishyam 3 is its atmosphere. The film understands that a thriller does not necessarily need constant action to create tension. Instead, it builds suspense through conversations, silences, suspicious looks and small details that gradually acquire greater significance.

The screenplay also plays with the audience’s expectations. Just when you think you have figured out where the story is heading, the narrative introduces another complication. This makes the viewing experience engaging, particularly for viewers familiar with the earlier films.

The emotional component also works better than expected. Beneath the mystery and investigation is a story about family, protection, guilt and the consequences of choices made under pressure. This emotional foundation prevents the film from becoming a purely mechanical puzzle.

Technically, the film maintains the dark and tense visual language associated with the franchise. The background score contributes significantly to the suspense without constantly announcing that something dramatic is about to happen. The editing keeps the narrative moving, particularly during the second half, when the revelations begin to arrive more frequently. There are, however, moments when the film feels slightly overextended. Some sequences appear designed primarily to delay a revelation that the audience is already anticipating. A tighter edit could have made the second half even more effective.

What makes Drishyam 3 work is that it does not forget what audiences loved about the franchise in the first place. Vijay Salgaonkar remains an ordinary family man who has found himself in an extraordinary situation. He is not a conventional action hero. His weapon is his mind, his knowledge of human behaviour and his ability to remain composed under pressure.

Tabu, meanwhile, provides the perfect counterbalance. Where Vijay is controlled and calculating, her character brings emotional intensity and determination. Their scenes together provide some of the film’s strongest moments.

Jaideep Ahlawat deserves special mention because he brings freshness to a familiar formula. His performance is charismatic without becoming distracting, and his character gives the investigation a new personality.

Ultimately, Drishyam 3 succeeds because it understands that the franchise is not simply about discovering what happened. It is about watching Vijay Salgaonkar construct, protect and defend his version of the truth.
